ROLES BEING AUDITIONED
LOUIE SOPRANO: 20s male – Club bouncer, Louie wants to be headliner to win the love of the woman of his dreams before he’s sent away to the big house for last week’s “accidental” murder. He meant to shoot the bum, not bludgeon him, but the gun jammed so technically it was an accident, right? “No wait! It was self defense cause he hit me before I plugged him? I mean, truth be told, nobody even liked the guy! Nobody! “
TRIXIE KELLY: 30s-60s female – Owner of Chicago’s famous Shanghai Club. Sexy, funny, charming song “belter” using sex appeal, humor & wit to succeed in this man’s world her way, paying the mob, cops & judges for protection & access to booze-runners. If only her clientele & staff would stop knocking each other off. Can’t we all just get along? Murder’s bad for business! Or is it?
MOXIE HEART: 20s female – This sweet bombshell is so naive & innocent in her “flirty” ways, why, gals can’t blame their fellas for enjoying the attention she gives them! Surely they see that Moxie’s the poster child for “Bimbos-R-Us”. Stupid as a brick & as deep as a parking lot puddle, she truly IS innocent…in her own way. The brightest thing about her is her eyes – especially when they’re filled with Murder!
TONY MARONI: 20s-30s male – Stepson of local mob-boss & new, unwanted, lounge-lizard headliner, Tony believes he’s a gift to women, unwrapped & set under the tree all pretty like. His gangster-stepfather got him this gig but don’t worry. Tony maintains that he, unlike his Pops, never actually killed anyone. Easy mistake when dames he dates think they’ve died & gone to heaven. No crime in that, is there?
TONY’S GAL SALLY McGEE: 20s-30s female – Oh, poor Sal. Orphaned & left with nothing but big dreams & even bigger losers. Chorus Girl at the Jubitz Vaudeville Emporium, life’s been hard for Sal. All those marriages left her with so many needy kids. Mommy, I’m hungry! Mommy! Timmy’s playin with matches! Mommy! Andy hit me! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Cops are here again! MOMMY! But Tony’s gonna make her a star! He said! Riiiight?
DETECTIVE EDDIE MAY: 30s-60s male – Funny, animated & interactive with the audience during pre-show cocktails & interrogations. Off duty, he stopped for a nightcap at The Shanghai Club to listen to a few songs, arrest Louie for murder and hope for everyone to just get along. Live & let live. Too much paperwork otherwise because Eddie always gets his man. Or woman. But I digress. Our highly respected detective has a very deep & profound saying about Murder…“Murder. I’m against it.”
– Notes before applying –
Cast once complete, will have 2 unpaid zoom rehearsals together, and need to be off-book for four, paid, 2-hour blocking/tech rehearsals, closer to the opening date which is TBD once we find a venue (restaurant, club, theater) to host the interactive comedy Murder mystery cocktail dinner parties. Cast & understudies must have no conflicts that impact their availability to rehearse or perform from 6-9pm, on the pre-scheduled weeknights during each 8 week renewable performance contract.
